Children's play is an essential part of every child's life, and working with children to enable and enrich their play opportunities is a responsible and skilled job. The impulse to play is innate. Play is a biological, psychological and social necessity, and is fundamental to the healthy development and well being of individuals and communities.

Children and parents deserve and expect the very best quality, reliable play facilities during out-of-school hours.

All staff working at St Cyril's are aware of the beneficial outcomes of play leading to enhancement of;

Increase Self Esteem - Confidence to try new things - Responding to others feelings.

Use their imagination - Self expression - Adapt and learn new skills.

Co-Operating with others - Taking turns - Sharing - Respecting others - Social skills.

Using and understanding symbols - Problem solving - Using language to convey thoughts and feelings - Using and understanding rules - Decision making.

Our staff actively engage with the children by using spontaneous free play or with structured play which has been planned in advance such as a team activity.

All of our retained staff have qualifications in Playwork NVQ 2 and 3.  Many volunteers are qualified up to NVQ 2 in Playwork.

On OFSTED’s Voluntary Register, our no is EY414290.
